SESI Corporate Leadership

Jill Hamilton, President
Jill Hamilton founded Sustainable Energy Strategies, Inc. in 1997.  For more than 20 years, she has provided this industry with direction on fundraising, public awareness, event coordination and more.  As President of SESI, Ms. Hamilton leverages alternative fuels industry funds with public and private resources, as well as initiates, writes and manages federal grant programs for clients.  She provides business plans, project management and technical support for biofuel infrastructure development, including market research, fleet analysis, equipment assessment, and fleet and retailer liaison efforts. Ms. Hamilton also coordinates public outreach activities to promote awareness of biofuel transportation technologies, authors alternative fuel articles, presentations and speeches, manages media and event coordination for clients and prepares alternative fuel marketing strategies.  During her Presidency at SESI, she has worked with the National Biodiesel Board, National Biodiesel Foundation, Maryland Grain Producers, Renewable Fuels Association, National Ethanol Governor's Association, Propane Education Research Council, Clean Vehicle Education Foundation, various clean cities coalitions and federal agencies such as the US Department of Energy.

Ms. Hamilton attended the University of Missouri and graduated with honors from Principia College in Elsah, Illinois with a BS in Environmental Sciences and a minor in Education.  Following graduation, she worked for the Department of Energy as an environmental specialist, and for the American Biofuels Association/Terra Plex, Inc. as  an Assistant Director and Editorial Director. Immediately prior to starting SESI, she served as director for the Alternative Fuels Division of Information Resources, Inc. as well as its National Alternative Fuels Project Hotline Manager. Ms. Hamilton has served on the following boards, including Chairing the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition, Secretary for the Washington DC section of the Society of Automotive Engineers, member of the Transportation Research Board Alternative Fuels Committee, Vice Chair of the London Towne PTA board, and board member of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, McLean. SESI also provides support staff to the National Biodiesel Foundation.

Susan Susanke, Vice President
Susan Susanke joined Sustainable Energy Strategies, Inc. in 1999 and has more than twenty years of experience in the field of environmental sustainability.  Ms. Susanke provides grant assistance and managerial services for SESI. She works to ensure successful project coordination and completion throughout the grant proposal process, including grant writing, ensuring compliance with federal level reporting requirements, and providing a link between clients and grant partners.  Additionally, as head of the operations staff for the National Biodiesel Foundation, she coordinates meetings, fundraising efforts and day-to- day office operations.  Ms. Susanke's focused efforts on ethanol include market and infrastructure development, advertising and public relations and outreach and education regarding alternative fuel opportunities.  During her time at SESI, she has worked closely with the Maryland Grain Producers Utilization Board, National Biodiesel Board, National Biodiesel Foundation, Department of Transportation, Department of Energy, Propane Education Research Council, Missouri Soybean Association and Maryland Soybean Association.
             Ms. Susanke graduated from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California with a Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration.  Following graduation, she spent two years in the Peace corps working to stabilize and improve living conditions in villages in Niger. Ms. Susanke has provided grant guidance and executive services for the Environmental Protection Agency. Susan holds grant certifications in Grant Recipients’ Track from Grants Management Certification Program (2108), Management Concepts, Tysons, VA and the Grant Pass-Through Track Certificate from Grants Management Certificate Program (2016), Management Concepts, Tysons, VA

Lynn Miller, Project Manager, Senior Analyst
Lynn Miller is a project manager, senior analyst, and grant writer at Sustainable Energy Strategies, Inc. Drawing on her background in the natural sciences, she has worked on and off for more than 26 years in positions related to resource management, environmental sustainability, and public outreach and training. She brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the SESI team in the areas of grant management and business development. She has a keen eye for detail and ensures that projects stay on task and comply with Federal requirements. She also provides grant development assistance for SESI by working with clients to ensure successful project coordination and completion throughout the grant proposal process,which includes grant writing, compliance with federal reporting requirements and providing a link between clients and other grant partners. Prior to SESI, Ms. Miller worked overseas where she was involved in project management, training activities, and public outreach in a variety of capacities. Her earliest professional work was with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service during which time she participated in planning for the visitor center and visitor program at the Patuxent Wildlife Research Refuge Center in Laurel, Maryland.
